Welcome to the 2023 Annual Meeting of the Georgia Chapter of the American College of Cardiology! We are delighted to be back at the Ritz-Carlton on Lake Oconee. In our 18th year, our tradition continues!

The Program Committee has worked hard to develop a curriculum encompassing relevant topics for your enjoyment. This year’s Conference will include Sudden Cardiac Death, Obesity  and CV Risk, Pharmacological Therapy of Heart Failure, Aortic Valve Disease, Cardiac Coronary CT in Clinical Practice and 5 hot topics: Heart Transplant; Renal Denervation; Functional MR;Antiplatelet Therapy after PCI; and LP(a).

Saturday will begin with an update from the National ACC by Dr. B. Hadley Wilson who plans to spend the weekend with us. There will be time to interact for a National perspective of the challenges facing Cardiovascular Medicine, and the approach our American College is taking.

Saturday afternoon, join us for wine and cheese and learn about new products with 6 different Product Theaters.

Saturday evening, several awards will be given: the Lifetime Achievement Award, the Dr. Nanette Kass Wenger Award for Excellence in Research and Scholarship, the Dr. Robert M. Nerem Award forExcellence in Biomedical Research, and the GA ACC Governor’s Awards for Excellence in Research.

Sunday morning breakfast will be the combined FIT to Fellow and DE&I meet and greet. Sunday’s session includes a lively game of Cardiology Kahoots and 5 Hot Topics.

As always, our goals for the weekend remain:

  • Provide information that is relevant and practical to the care of our patients.
  • Create a forum for dialog between fellow ACC members regarding the practice issues we face every day.
  • Develop communication and relationships between our members and our industry partners.
  • Explore the challenges facing us in the new era of healthcare delivery, as we march along the road from volume to value-based services, and understand what the ACC is doing nationally, and what we might be doing locally and state-wide.
  • Relax with family and friends.

I want to welcome each of you back to our Chapter’s fabulous Annual Meeting and I hope to see as many of you as the Ritz-Carlton can accommodate.

Sincerely,

Arthur B. Reitman, MD, FACC | President / Governor, GA Chapter American College of Cardiology
